Vanessa Platacis (b. 1973, United States) earned an MFA from the School of the Museum of Fine Arts/Tufts University. She is an artist and a professor at the Savannah College of Art and Design in Savannah, GA. She has exhibited her work in solo and group exhibitions throughout the world, including venues in Boston, Cambridge, Los Angeles, Miami, New Mexico and France as well as the Scope Art Fair in Basel, Switzerland. Platacis creates large-scale painting installations in site-specific locations using a variety of media. Her work investigates the relationship between painting, performance and installation. She previously taught at the School of the Museum of Fine Arts and has been a guest lecturer at the Institute of Contemporary Art, Boston and the
New England Institute of Art.
