Jstseeds artist update 11.05
I'm almost finished collecting images for my upcoming book Reproduce & Revolt: Radical Graphics for the 21st Century. If you haven't sent work in yet, or don't know what I'm talking about, check out the pdf of the call:www.justseeds.org/calls/R&Rcall1.pdf
I've extended the deadline by a couple weeks.
I'm also giving a talk this month in New York City at Bluestockings Books, if you're in the NYC area, check out #2 below....
For those that are new to the list or are not sure why you're getting this: My name's Josh MacPhee and I run justseeds.org, a radical art distro on the web. You're getting this monthly email because our paths have crossed along the way somewhere, and it was lodged in my head that you're an artist of some sort. I've started this list to help spread the word on radical art opportunities, so if you're interested in getting info about:

Last Night a VK saved my life
Seeing people get so stoked on the show was a huge boost for my spirits. With all that I do I often become pretty grumpy about shows and all the egos, games, and general crap involved. But last night I realized that people really love the VK shows and that alone is reason to keep pushing on. Seeing all those wet people smiling, laughing, and getting excited about art was an amazing thing to be a part of and I felt lucky to have played a part of that.My whole deal with VK has always been about providing us with a gathering and community in hopes that it would inspire people and spark something bigger. Last night I saw that has happened and what we have is something greater than just a cool art show. Vinyl Killers has already achieved a positive impact in a myriad of ways. From simply making someone smile for a minute, to giving the artists a reason to explore what they can add to the mix, to showing others that they too can create something cool without money, sponsors,… Read more

(Track16, LA) The Neo-Fake: Paintings and Stencils by Scott Williams
The Neo-Fake:Paintings and Stencils by Scott Williams
October 15 through November 12, 2005
23 September, 2005, Santa Monica's Track 16 Gallery is pleased to present the work of Scott Williams from October 15 through November 12, 2005, with a reception on Saturday, October 22 from 6-8 P.M. Williams is best known for his intricate stencil work which ranges in form from graffiti art, to handmade artists' books, to textile design, to paintings on canvas. His rich and layered imagery includes architecture, appropriations from West Coast popular culture (i.e. Hollywood, pulp fiction), as well as historic and political figures. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Obsessive, lyrical, and mythical are a few words that come to mind when viewing Williams' work. As quoted by Williams, "I try to drop hints of insane panic under the happy pop images, like a… Read more

cutting out a barcode "PAINTING" stencil
I just uploaded an animation of cutting out a barcode "PAINTING" stencil.
Too many people where questioning if my paintings where inkjet prints. So I made these videos to explain my stencil making process. I'm sure that some will still not believe these barcodes are hand made.
