Scout for Street Art Walking Tour

Russell Howze describes his tour as a "three hour zigzag through the Mission District." For fans of street art, or anyone curious about the changing city, it's a zigzag worth taking. Howze has been chronicling the stencils, tags, murals and graffiti that decorate San Francisco for 15 years, and is the author of the street art tome Stencil Nation. His tour explores alleys that will be new to residents and tourists alike, and keeps an eye on the shifting cultural tides of the neighborhood. "Urban landscapes are always changing," Howze said, pointing out that while many of the tech workers moving into the Mission appreciate street art, they also bring security cameras and fences.

10 May: HAHA's Metamorphosis (Melbourne)

Metamorphosis.

Metamorphosis is an exploration into the archetype's of the human psyche. As humans, we create the archetypes that exist amongst us as individuals, and as a part of a couple, a family, a tribe or a nation.

Here HAHA investigates these archetypes by means of stencil: fusing portraits of people together to find a link or connection between couples, or by fusing man with machine and beast.

The viewer is presented and faced with questions about the archetype within relationships, transhumanism & the beast man.

HAHA

HAHA (Regan Tamanui) is one of Australia's most notorious and prolific stencil artists. He called the Blender Studios home for many years before extending his art practice with an extended, overseas trip.

Now he is back, and is having his first solo show since returning to Melbourne at Blender Studios' gallery Dark Horse Experiment.

Please join us for the opening of this exciting show.

• Location: Dark Horse Experiment, 110 Franklin Street Melbourne

• Opening Date: Friday 10th May, 6:00pm - 9:00pm.

City of Tiny Lights - evol's Buildings

A nice blog post with photos of evol's small apartment building stencils (basically windows and balconies on block-shaped objects). Xsacto sent this link over...

"Berlin-based street artist Evol playfully transforms city blocks, power boxes, walls, and any other public architecture he comes across into micro cities as part of his ongoing Buildings series......"
