Oakland Museum of California
1000 Oak St.
Oakland, CA 94607

The Oakland Standard will honor the history of political posters in the Bay Area, and the Museum's acquisition of the All Of Us Or None (AOUON) collection with an evening of printmaking and conversation.

The Oakland Standard has invited the San Francisco Print Collective, Great Tortilla Conspiracy, and street artist Eddie Colla to host informal drop-in workshops. There will be stencil, linocut, digital, and screenprinting methods on display, and an ample supply of paper, T-shirts, and tortillas for printing practice. The workshops will use imagery that pays homage to the AOUON collection, especially the iconic images of the Black Power movement. We've commissioned local artist-activist Jesus Barraza to create a…

Jana & Js

Solo show "Jeux de constructions"
February, 25 - March, 26

Opening on Friday, February, 25 from 6 pm

Deserted factories, parking lots being demolished, low rise apartment blocks : these elements - among many others - surround and inspire Jana & Js. Their work is nourished by the city they live in, together with its inhabitants and its ever changing architectural landscape. The paintings created by this couple of artists make use of extremely detailed and scrupulously prepared stencils..
Jana & Js raise the question of the individual in large groups of buildings and more widely in the cities, combining portraits and architectural views.
Their street paintings (in France, Austria, Russia, Slovakia, Romania and Spain) also led them to develop an interaction with the environment in which they operate and the public – passerby or spectator – using sets of mirrors as a game in order to create infinities of ways of seeing the city… Read more

Submitted by russell on

11 Dec :: Adam5100 Even Keel Exhibit (SF, CA)

Submitted by russell on

I have a showing coming up on December 11th at Guerrero Gallery here in San Francisco.
Guerrero Gallery is located at 19th and York in SF's Mission District.

It is entitled "Even Keel" which reflects the artwork , not only in subject matter, but in process.

This exhibition will be different than any of mine you may have seen in the past, because not only have I made some paintings I am really proud of, but me and Andres from Guerrero Gallery, have taken the stencils I used to make the paintings, deconstructed them, then reassembled them in to art objects all their own. This is in an effort to really expose the process and exhibit the highlights of each stencil by cutting them apart and sewing them back together it a way that shows not only the image but the intricacy of the…

Broken Meter

Zine Release Party and Gallery Show
Created by Adam Rozan

Shooting Gallery
835 Larkin Street
San Francisco, CA

...Broken Meter is a celebration of city life, a visual recording of the activity, movement, and energy of the urban environment. Broken Meter is not gentrification, trash removal, clean swept streets, and flower boxes, but rather the decay, the chipped, flaked, broken aesthetic of our culture. Broken meter is the misspelled sign, the street preacher, the converted U-Haul cardboard trucks, the old ladies and recycled cans and bottles, the graffiti tag, the covered up graffiti tagged, the re-tagging of the original piece, it is the funny face, the sad face, the busted, it is the unexpected, the hopeless, it is both beautiful, and sad, it is the Broken Meter.

Lets Meet a collection of queer stencils from the past year by Jeremy Novy

San Francisco, CA (November 3, 2010)— The San Francisco LGBT Center is honored to present “Lets Meet”, a collection of queer stencils from the past year by Jeremy Novy. Novy's is considered one of the up and coming street art celebrities of San Francisco and street art world itself. His koi fish stencils found through out the city have gained him acceptance by not only the street art community of San Francisco but also complements from the Cities Department of Public Works. Yet this exhibit is about something much deeper then just adding beauty to urban blight. It's street art with a social message against homophobia. This exhibition, opens with a reception on Thursday, December 2nd from 6-9 pm and runs through December 30th. Novy has made a limited edition print, signed and numbered, for the 50 guests, along with having Pabst Blue Ribbon beer on hand. Novy was recently commissioned by Joe Pabst,…
