PIXNIT Basel Update

A special thanks to Alexis Hubsman, the owner and creator of Scope, for inviting PIXNIT to participate. Also, to the creative and energetic team of directors and producers of Scope, who put on the most dynamic Art Fair around. Many thanks to Camilo Alvarez from Samson Projects, Leora Lutz from Gallery Revisited and Chris Constas for all of your support.

After Basel, PIXNIT traveled to Italy to continue the Pollination Campaign with stickers and stencils. Currently, there are over 50 images of stickers placed in 6 countries, which will be on view at Gallery Revisited in Oct. of 2007. In addition to many new paintings on paper and canvas, the stencils used on tour will also be on view and for sale.

The work of PIXNIT is characterized by its reference to classical painting, the use of industrial materials and the covert nature of her installations. By combining ornamentalism, references to interior spaces and the ephemeral nature of popular languages of expression, such as graffiti and mural art. Her painting often challenges the aesthetic of graffiti and shifts our experience of public space. For Basel, she has concocted a 13Â’ x 30Â’ representation of an ornate iron gate that employs contemporary industrial imagery contrasted against floral design that moves between forming the structure of the gate and an organic reference to a mental state.
