Calling All Stencil Artists!
Cut&Paint: A Stencil Template Zine #2
Deadline: February 1st, 2006
We're almost sold out of the 400 copies we made of Cut&Paint #1 and we barely did any promotion, the zines sold themselves! We've decided this success demands a follow-up, so we're putting together another issue of Cut&Paint and we need your help. Once again, Josh MacPhee (Stencil Pirates book, www.justseeds.org), Nicolas Lampert (www.drawingresistance.org, www.machineanimalcollages.com) and Colin Matthes (Ideas in Pictures zine, www.ideasinpictures.org) are putting together a zine of stencil templates. This time around we plan on scaling back the size of the zine a little… Read more
Parallelized - New Magazine for 2006
We want to take all the things we like and put them in a mag, no words (just credits)... sounds daft? It might be... but daft can be good like concrete can be beautiful. We are inviting submissions of images of stencil/poster/sticker art or any other documentary of urban aesthetics - the first issue has a photo-story of views from hotel windows (starting to get it?) If you would like to get your pics and name in print email parallelized@phazer.co.uk. for more info. We hope to launch Feb 2006 so keep the entries coming... we will reply to all enquiries. JUSTSEEDS ARTIST UPDATE 07.05
Hi Everyone-This is only the second post to this list, so I'll go over the basics again: My name's Josh MacPhee and I run justseeds.org, a radical art distro on the web. You're getting this email because our paths have crossed along the way somewhere, and it was lodged in my head that you're an artist of some sort. I've started this list to help spread the word on radical art opportunities, so if you're interested in getting info about:
-radical art calls/events/activities
-street art/graffiti projects
-political art publications and shows
then stick around. If I've got you on here by accident, there's info at the bottom of this email so you can remove yourself from the list. I'm trying to help, not spam anyone, so if you're not interested, please just take yourself off the list. I can't imagine sending out more than 1 or 2 emails a month, so this won't be heavy traffic.
This month I have a bunch of exciting news, projects and calls to share:… Read more
Stencil Pirates Call for Art Roundup
1) SAWCALL FOR STREET ART
Deadline: September 1, 2005
SAW (streetartworkers.org) is seeking posters for an international street art campaign about land and the effects of globalization. We want you to design and submit posters that will be printed and wheatpasted in cities across Europe and North America. The strongest designs will be published as a mass produced, newsprint poster collection. This will be a 24 page, 2-color newspaper which will include up to 30 posters. SAW will pay for the printing, and volunteers will distribute the posters. The majority of posters will be wheatpasted in public by participating artists and folks who just want to paste up their city.

Propaganda 2.0: They Hate Our Freedom
PROPAGANDA 2.0the 'THEY HATE OUR FREEDOM' art show
This is an open call for submissions of POLITICAL ARTWORK.
But first, a little background...
Two years ago, START SOMA hosted an art show called PROPAGANDA, and the SAN FRANCISCO EXAMINER included a feature story on the exhibition. According to the article:
One would expect an art exhibition entitled PROPAGANDA held in a barely above-ground gallery space to be just another platform for far lefties, Bush haters, and anti-corporate types, particularly in an ultra-lib town like San Francisco. That's why John Doffing, founder of upstart gallery space START SOMA, Propaganda's south of Market headquarters for the next two months, says he kept the show's submission guidelines, as well as the curating process, as loose as possible.
Doffing, a tech industry vet and impassioned art patron, believes the definition of propaganda… Read more
