Vinyl Killers 3 Returns To Portland
From its start in a NE Portland backyard just 2 years ago the Vinyl Killers shows have developed into a widely recognized and well-respected name in the global street art scene and beyond. Artists from around the world continue to pick up on painting records and vinyl work is now a staple of many street art exhibitions. During the past year there has been several other vinyl shows held the U.K., Australia, and Denmark. In April the VK collective was invited to do an installation in the lobby at San Francisco's Hotel Des Arts. Klutch, the VK organizer, designed an entire room using his vinyl work and spray painted ornamentation that is a permanent installation at the hotel. As the medium of vinyl painting keeps growing Vinyl Killers has become its annual gathering of the tribes. For Vinyl Killers 3 there will be two shows. The first show opening on October 27th at The Goodfoot will be an invitational group comprised of friends that Klutch has made during his exploits in street… Read more

The Neo-Fake:Paintings and Stencils by Scott Williams
October 15 through November 12, 2005
23 September, 2005, Santa Monica's Track 16 Gallery is pleased to present the work of Scott Williams from October 15 through November 12, 2005, with a reception on Saturday, October 22 from 6-8 P.M. Williams is best known for his intricate stencil work which ranges in form from graffiti art, to handmade artists' books, to textile design, to paintings on canvas. His rich and layered imagery includes architecture, appropriations from West Coast popular culture (i.e. Hollywood, pulp fiction), as well as historic and political figures. Regular gallery hours are Tuesday through Saturday from 11 A.M. to 6:00 P.M.
Obsessive, lyrical, and mythical are a few words that come to mind when viewing Williams' work. As quoted by Williams, "I try to drop hints of insane panic under the happy pop images, like a… Read more
