LOGAN HICKS TO SHOW IN JAPAN, CHINA, TAIWAN, KOREA, AND THAILAND
Workhorse Studios is pleased to announce Logan Hicks' involvement in the upcoming K-Spray Asian Tour. 'K-Spray', sponsored by shoe company K-Swiss, and curated by artist Ghetto Kitty, will bring the medium of stenciling to Japan, China, Korea, Taiwan, and Thailand. This stencil tour promises to be the most comprehensive documentation of this burgeoning genre. The three artists who will be featured in the progressive tour, Logan Hicks (United States), Sixten (Europe), and Phibs (Australia), will be featured in live painting demonstrations during the opening nights for each city. The 'live painting' sessions will allow the audience to view the actual stencils from which the artists work as well as follow the process of creating stencil artwork. Each artist will also be available to converse with the public and answer questions from interested audience members concerning their artistic history. In addition to the Live Painting, K-Spray will host a gallery exhibition of… Read more
Not easy being green
Sonic ReducerBy Kimberly Chun
THE SAD FACT of life is art and green cookies don't always mix. I realized this at this year's Mission Creek Music Festival at the Lab, where Aquarius Records stalwart, Wire scribe, and onetime Bay Guardian columnist Jim Haynes was tag-teaming on a lengthy piece with fellow Bay Area sound artist irr.app. (ext.) from behind a bed sheet. Yellow and orange lights pulsed. Textured noise induced lapping waves of paranoia. Apocalypse Now village watering hole chatter morphed into what sounded like Mos Eisley Cantina bum fights. The foldout chairs became increasingly uncomfortable. Mission Creek founder Jeff Ray closed his eyes and appeared to be lightly dozing in the seat beside me. I probably resembled Marlon Brando emerging from the jungle, peepers rolling to the back of the head and jibbering about the horror, the horror of certain sonic frequencies and maybe the South Beach Diet.
I decided to sit out the rest of the war on the step of… Read more

Klutch drops an em to Stencil Archive
20 boards in one week. I have more in the works but was able to finish 20 of them in 7 days. No reason why, I just ran out of things to paint (besides records) and hit up Calsk8 for some castaways. Now I am trying to see how many I can do before July 1st. If you are in Portland on First Thursday in July stop by Zeitgeist to see how many I end up with. I am also in the Fifty-Fifty show that just finished up in LA and opens in NY July 14, here is a link - http://www.beckycity.com/ .Keep shining,
